Gold Award for Honeycomb Brownies at The Great Taste Awards
What is the Great Taste Awards?
The Great Taste Awards is the largest and most trusted awards scheme for speciality fine food and drink. It first started in 1994 and since then they have judged over 50,000 products. Each year, every product is blind tested by specialists: top chefs, cookery writers, food critics, restaurateurs and food retailers. The awards provide recognition for those who make truly great tasting food and drink.
How many products win an award?
In 2011 7,000 products were entered. The 1 star award won by us means the judges considered our Honeycomb Brownies "a virtually faultless food".
What do the judges look for?
They look for great taste, texture and appearance. They judge the quality of ingredients, but above all they are looking for truly great taste.
How does Judging work?
The judges work in small teams and taste 20- 30 foods in each sitting. Any food they think is worthy of a gold is then judged again by at least two other teams. Only when there is a consensus will the star be awarded., meaning at least 16 judges will have tasted each winning product.
